02 / Assessment — Demonstrate how you address those risks
Your team gathers documentation and supporting evidence. Verdas AI independently evaluates that evidence against the applicable ethical criteria and documents the findings, including gaps that need attention.
What you gain: An evidence-based view of how your product or service meets the criteria and where further work is needed.
03 / Certification — Earn independent recognition from IEEE SA
Your assessment proceeds to IEEE SA for an independent review and certification decision. If your product or service meets the requirements, IEEE SA issues the IEEE CertifAIEd™ certificate and authorizes use of the certification mark under its terms.
What you gain: An internationally recognized certification you can communicate to customers and partners as evidence of your achievement within the certified scope.

What can we tell customers after certification?
You can communicate that your product or service has achieved IEEE CertifAIEd™ certification within its defined scope. You can also use the certification mark in accordance with IEEE SA’s authorization and usage requirements, giving customers and partners a recognizable signal of independent ethical assessment.
What will our team need to provide?
Your team will provide information about your AI-enabled product or service, its intended use, the people it affects and the measures you use to address ethical risks. Supporting evidence may include product documentation, policies, testing results and records of oversight. We will clarify the evidence requirements for your assessment scope.
How does certification support regulatory compliance?
Ethics profiling and assessment help you understand risks, strengthen documentation and organize evidence for your wider governance and compliance work. Certification provides a foundation for that work; it does not establish legal compliance or replace any required regulatory assessment.
Who assesses our product, and who issues the certificate?
Verdas AI conducts the ethical assessment and documents the findings. IEEE SA, an internationally recognized standards organization, conducts its separate review and makes the certification decision. Following a successful review, IEEE SA issues the certificate.
Can our AI-enabled service be assessed?
The engagement can cover an AI-enabled product or service. We begin by defining the system, its intended use and the boundaries of the assessment so that the certification scope is clear.
How long does the process take?
Timing depends on the scope and complexity of your AI system, the availability of supporting evidence and any gaps that need to be addressed. We will discuss the expected assessment schedule in your proposal. IEEE SA’s separate certification review also affects the overall timeline.
Is this the same as professional certification?
Product certification concerns a defined AI-enabled product or service. Professional certification concerns an individual’s knowledge and ability to apply the IEEE AI ethics framework.
